SEATTLE - Demolition of Broadway's old Safeway building on Capitol Hill began recently, making way for Brix Condomini-ums, Capitol Hill's newest residential mixed use retail/condominium development.

Brix is one of the key components in Mayor Greg Nickels' recently announced Broadway revitalization plan, which combines a city investment of $345,000 to rejuvenate and improve Broadway, with more than $55 million in private investment.

Schnitzer Northwest is providing development services to S/I Broadway, an affiliated entity which owns the Brix project.

Construction is scheduled to be completed and occupancy to occur in the 1st quarter of 2008. WG Clark will be the construction manager for the project.
