Osborne Construction Company (Seattle) recently announced
the promotion of Mike Ritchie to vice-president of
operations for the firm's Alaska division and the return of
Gary Bain to the company as a senior project manager.
Ritchie began his career with Osborne in 1980. Since then,
he has managed numerous projects in both Washington and Alaska
including Kuparuk Industrial Center Work Package D; Sohio
Endicott Island Buildings 601, 613 and 616; Ft. Wainwright
Physical Fitness Center; and Elmendorf AFB Privatization Housing
Project. Ritchie is currently managing Osborne's Ft. Wainwright
FY-01 Replacement Family Housing Project.
Bain previously managed the Barrow TNHA Housing - Phases
I and II; Unalaska Public Works Facility; Unalaska Public
Library; Unalaska Museum of the Aleutians; Mekoryuk, Chevak,
Kotlik, Kwigillingok and Pilot Station HUD Housing Projects;
and Elmendorf AFB New Sunflower Family Housing projects for
Osborne. He will complete Ft. Wainwright's FY-01 project and
manage the FY-02 Replacement Housing Project for Osborne.
Project manager Eero O. Tanttu and CAD technician
Dan Lofdahl have joined Portland, Ore.-based MNB Architects/Engineers.
Tanttu, an architect, will manage project documents and design
development at MNB. Before joining the firm, he served as
a senior project manager, design manager and wireless client
manager for several design firms. Tanttu graduated with a
master's degree in architecture from Helsinki University of
Technology in 1989 and worked for more than 15 years as a
designer in Finland before moving to the United States. He
is a member of the Finnish Institute of Architects.
Lofdahl will serve as a job captain, coordinating production
of CAD drawings and consultant documents. He has recently
Lofdahl worked as a CAD manager and project coordinator on
cellular site projects for other firms. Lofdahl attended Southwestern
Oregon Community College, Portland State University and Oregon
Polytechnic Institute. He earned an A.A.S. in automated drafting
technology from Oregon Polytechnic in 1990.
Associated General Contractors of Washington (AGC) has hired
two new district mangers; Brian McGuire for the Central
District based in Yakima, Wash., and Liz Evans for
the Northern District based in Bellingham, Wash.
AGC's district mangers are responsible for providing services
for members in their areas. Some of these services include
safety and professional training programs, networking opportunities,
community service programs, and local government relations.
The Northern District manager serves members in Whatcom, Skagit,
Island and San Juan counties. The Central District manager
serves members in Yakima, Kittitas and Chelan counties.
Prior to joining the AGC, McGuire was part owner of McGuire
Lumber. McGuire and his family sold the company to Lumberman's
in 1999. McGuire served as human resource manager and safety
director for McGuire Lumber and was active in AGC's safety
committee. He is the 2002 president of the Yakima Valley Human
Resources Association, sits on the ABE/ESL Advisory Board
for Yakima Valley Community College, and the Memorial Hospital
Business Health Advisory Board.
Evans previously worked as an account manager and media buyer
for an advertising agency and an operations manager for an
industrial equipment distributor. She also served as a base
operations specialist providing flight operations support
for a squadron of test pilots in the U.S. Air Force. Evans
holds a bachelor's degree from University of Nevada Las Vegas
and a master's degree in behavioral science from California
State University Dominguez Hills.
Bothell, Wash.-based Valley Electric recently announced
the addition of Darlene Zook as a project manager to
the firm's Seattle Construction Department. Zook brings more
than 25 years of experience in the electrical industry specializing
in the medical and health care industry, along with numerous
industrial and commercial projects. Her primary responsibility
will be the continued development of Valley's healthcare facility
construction.
Pacific Lift Equipment Inc. (Kent, Wash.), a distributor
of Terex Cranes, has named Larry Collier as service
manager.
Collier will be responsible for directing and coordinating
the service department that will provide technical support
to owners of Demag and Terex cranes throughout the country
and into Canada.
Collier has 24 years of experience at Demag.
The Construction Industry Training Council (Bellevue, Wash.)
has elected Shawn Rhode, partner and chief operating
officer of Rafn Company, as president of its 2003 board of
directors.
Joining Rhode are officers Adam Pinsky, SME Inc. of
Seattle, vice-president; Jim Stack, Stack Plumbing
Inc., secretary; Joe Ratto, J.A. Ratto/Builder, treasurer;
and Tim Hoover, W. G. Clark Construction Co., past
president.

Craig Wren has returned to McGraw-Hill Construction/Dodge
as a major account representative.
Wren served in the same capacity with the company for three
and-a-half years before taking a brief hiatus last year.
Wren, based in Portland, Ore., serves Oregon and southern
Washington, as well as Boise, Idaho, and the vicinity. He
represents all Dodge information services which include project
news, online plans and statistical analysis to general contractors,
subcontractors, building product suppliers, and companies
that service the construction industry.
Chris Lewis, CFM has joined Seattle's D.W. Close Co.
as a project manager. Lewis has over 19 years of electrical
and facilities management experience.
Portland, Ore., general contractor, Emerick Construction
welcomes Nancy Lyons as its new full-time safety coordinator.
Lyons has 24 years of experience in on-the-job enforcement
and investigation of safety and environmental health issues.
Prior to joining Emerick, Nancy worked for Spokane County
Risk Management where, during her 13-year employment, she
held the positions of safety and heath specialist, worker's
compensation claims adjudicator, and safety coordinator. She
has received extensive training in safety programs offered
by industry associations and is a certified member of the
Evergreen Safety Council.
Lyons is responsible for Emerick's on-site training of field
crews in the safety and health program, implementing SHARP
program elements (Safety & Health Achievement Recognition
Program), weekly safety meetings, coordinating the Fall Protection
Program, and making regular site inspections.
Linda Yamamoto recently joined Lease Crutcher Lewis
(Portland, Ore.) as special projects manager. Yamamoto's predecessor
at Lewis, Senior Project Manager John Lake, is now
dedicating 100 percent of his time to grow the firm's core
healthcare construction group.
Yamamoto brings more than 25 years experience in the construction
industry. She specializes in managing tenant improvements,
build-outs and renovations for corporate, healthcare and financial
services clients.
In her new position Yamamoto is responsible for directing
preconstruction and construction services for Lewis' Special
Projects group, a unit that specializes in tenant improvements,
build-outs and small-scale stand-alone and shell and core
construction.
Lake, in his new position, will assist with preconstruction
and perform marketing, staff training and overall management
of healthcare construction projects. He offers more than 30
years of experience in the construction industry and is an
expert manager of the complexities typical of medical facility
construction and building amidst sensitive occupied space.
Harold F. Javete has joined Lorig Associates (Seattle) as project
manager working on the Welch Apartments and Ravenna Court Apartments and
Townhomes developments.
Javete brings 10 years of experience in business management, real estate
development, management and sales to the Lorig team. For four years he
ran Saxe Floral, his family's nursery and flower shop in the Ravenna neighborhood
of Seattle. In addition to earning his bachelor of arts in finance and
completing the Real Estate Certificate program at the University of Washington,
Javete has studied urban planning and architecture. He is also a licensed
real estate salesperson in Washington state.
Seattle general contractor Foushee recently announced that
Eric Jones has become a stockholder in the company.
Jones has been a key manager with Foushee for 10 years and
has provided preconstruction and construction services for
a diverse group of clients and design partners. Jones is a
Puget Sound area native and graduated from the University
of Washington with a degree in Building Construction Management.
He also instructs at the UW for the Certificate Program in
Commercial Real Estate.
