Federal Way, Wash.-based engineering firm BERGER/ABAM recently
announced several staff promotions.
Chris Walcott was recently
promoted to Grade VII project manager. Walcott has 17 years
of experience with the planning, design, and construction
support of transportation projects and has been extensively
involved in development of contract documents for civil construction
at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Yangiang Gao has been promoted
to Grade V project engineer. He has recently served as engineer
for several projects at the Merak International Terminal located
in Western Java, Indonesia.
Chris Yeargin has been promoted
to Grade III engineer. Yeargin has six years of structural
engineering experience, including the development and implementation
of construction plans and specifications for shipboard structural
component upgrades and repairs.
Mike Wray was recently promoted
to Grade VII project manager. His experience in port, waterfront,
and ferry facilities includes facility planning, structural
design, computer modeling, design cost estimates and forensic
investigation.
Sieu Quan has been promoted
to Grade VI project engineer. Quan has 12 years of experience
with structural engineering design and analysis for a wide
range of building structures, including commercial, military,
aviation, and industrial.
Melinda Webb has been promoted
to senior marketing coordinator. Webb's background focuses
on proposal and qualifications coordination, business development
event planning and coordination and database management.
Scott Branlund was recently
promoted to Grade VIII senior project manager Branlund has
more than 25 years of experience in project management of
major facility and structural waterfront projects. He is also
a certified diver and member of the BERGER/ABAM underwater
inspection team.
Monty Edberg has been promoted
to Grade VI project engineer. Edber's background focuses on
water resources and utilities engineering, as well as civil
engineering projects such as street improvements, site development,
infrastructure planning and design of parks and recreational
facilities.
Will Bohlen has been promoted
to Grade V project engineer. He is currently serving as field
engineer for the condition survey and associated recapitalization
study at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for the United States
Navy.

Jeff Oleson has re-joined Express
Construction Company of Seattle as a project superintendent
focused on large multi-family and commercial mixed-use projects.
Oleson is currently leading construction of Ballinger Gateway,
a $6.5 million mixed-use project. When complete, the four-story
building will include 36 apartments and 6,700 sq. ft. of commercial
space on two floors
With 20 years of industry experience, Oleson brings an in-depth
understanding of commercial and mixed-use construction to
the Express team. During his first tenure at Express, Oleson
led a variety of retail, multi-family and tenant improvement
projects, including Klee Lofts, North Seattle Staples, Kennedy
Jenks, and numerous historic renovations and building seismic
upgrades throughout the Puget Sound area.

John Korsmo Construction of Lakewood, Wash., has hired Jarrod
A. Fenberg as a project manager. Fenberg brings more
than a decade of experience to John Korsmo Construction.
Fenberg is a 1994 graduate of the University of Washington.
He holds a B.S. degree in Building Construction and is also
certified by OSHA as a Safety Trained Supervisor.
Fenberg will focus initially on the expanding private work
at John Korsmo Construction. His first projects will include
Christ Lutheran Church in Lakewood and Evergreen Community
Church in Bothell.

Portland, Ore., architecture and engineering firm Group Mackenzie
recently celebrated the accomplishments of one of the firm's
employees and announced the addition of six new staff members.
Sterling Simmons, who joined
Group Mackenzie in 2000, was licensed as a professional engineer
in the State of Oregon. Simmons has contributed to a variety
of projects including commercial office space, warehouse/distribution
centers, and high tech facilities.
Stacey Alexander is a project
designer in the interiors department with experience in commercial
office projects. Her current projects include tenant improvements
for Prudential NW Properties, AutoDesk, and Equity Office
Properties.
Kavahn Aman has joined the
architecture department as an intern. His skills will be used
in the production of conceptual and schematic design presentations,
design development, and contract documents.
Ryan Baker, engineer-in-training,
is part of the structural engineering and the civil engineering
departments. Baker's current projects are Aurora Airport Fire
Suppression System, Gateway Corporate Center, and 24 Hour
Fitness clubs.
Sang-yoon Byun is an assistant
interior designer in the interiors department. His duties
include space planning, development of graphic presentations,
and preparation of construction documents.
Alison Dooley joined the structural
engineering department as an engineer-in-training. She is
currently working on a remodel of a 24 Hour Fitness facility
in northwest Portland.
Theresa Paulson is an assistant
planner with the planning department. Her duties include development
feasibility studies, land use and zoning research, and project
permitting.

Jennifer Ziegler was recently
appointed as commission administrator for the Washington State
Transportation Commission Office. In her role as administrator,
Ziegler will be responsible for assisting the commission in
formulating its positions and initiatives on matters of transportation
budgets, planning and policy; and serving as the commission's
liaison with WSDOT, other state agencies, the legislature
and local governments.
Ziegler comes to the Transportation Commission from the Senate
Commerce and Trade Committee where she was responsible for
coordinating schedule, presentation and parliamentary issues
for committee hearings and analyzing legislation related to
labor issues.

Art Scheunemann was recently
hired by Northwest Container Services Inc. as the firm's new
senior vice president of business development.
Scheunemann will be based out of NWCS Seattle office and
will oversee all domestic and international business development
for the Seattle and Tacoma terminal operations along with
developing new business initiatives and partnerships.

Erik Bodholt, Spokane, Wash.-chapter
member of the Construction Management Association of America,
was recently inducted into the CMAA College of Fellows at
the association's national conference in Washington D.C.
Bodholt has been a strong supporter and member of CMAA since
it was formed in 1982, served on the board of directors and
helped to develop CMAA's first Standards of Practice publication.
He was one of the first members of the Construction Management
Certification Institute's Board of Governors and proctored
the very first certification exam for the state of Idaho's
Construction Manager license. Bodholt was also instrumental
in forming CMAA's Pacific Northwest Chapter and has served
on various technical committees and task forces.

GBD ARCHITECTS Incorporated of Portland, Ore., recently announced
the promotion of Catherine Navarro-Silva, IIDA, to associate.
Navarro-Silva joined GBD more
than 10 years ago and has been involved in both architecture
and interior design projects. Most recently, she headed the
design and construction team for the Helen Gordon Child Development
Center at Portland State University. Previously, she worked
on the Museum Place South project, the headquarters for both
Columbia Sportswear Company and PacifiCorp, the Belmont Dairy
mixed-use development and the Brewery Blocks.
Navarro-Silva is a member of the International Interior Design
Association and has been involved in many community activities,
including the annual Sand in the City event, a benefit for
the Kids on the Block Awareness program, the AIA Job Shadow
program and the Architects in Schools program.

Walt Dutko has joined engineering/planning/surveying
firm CLC Associates Inc. of Spokane, Wash., as chief operating
officer.
Prior to joining CLC, Dutko provided business consulting
services through his own consulting firm, P&L Management
Consultants, offering consulting services to architects, engineers,
and attorneys as well as to CLC.
Dutko has more than 34 years of experience in management,
operations, and business systems within the professional services
industry. In his new role, Dutko will be responsible for overseeing
the firm's operations, including business systems, financial
management, and corporate operations for all of CLC's offices.
